Flush bolts are ideal for entrances with double doors and used to secure the inactive leaf of the two doors. They are recessed into the edge of the door so that they are hidden when the doors are closed. Available in a range of styles and colours, flush bolt door locks are perfect for hotel rooms, apartments and commercial double doors.
As the name suggests, patio bolts are designed specifically for sliding or hinged patio doors. With a surface mounted design, patio bolts are easy to install and ideal for improving residential security.
With a simple and effective design, barrel bolts are a popular choice for adding extra security to your doors. Available in a range of colours and styles, we supply a variety of barrel bolt door locks.
A deadbolt uses a locking bolt that extends out of the lock and into the wall/door cavity. One of the strongest types of door locks, a deadbolt makes opening a door without keys almost impossible. At Border Locksmiths we supply a wide variety of deadbolts including circular, square as well as double and single cylinder deadbolts.
Deadlatches are similar to deadbolts with the addition of a self-locking latch function. Whereas a key or manually turning the deadlock is required to lock the door, a deadlatch with lock itself automatically when the door is shut. Deadlatches are easy to install, convenient and secure.
Ideal for commercial properties and residential buildings like apartment complexes, door closers help keep your property secure by automatically closing doors after an entrance.
MECHANICAL DIGITAL LOCKS
Mechanical digital locks provide a convenient and secure option for your home or business. With a mechanical digital lock, you don’t have to worry about losing your keys ever again.
For older buildings in particular, mortice locks are a common security feature. Fitted within the door, mortice locks are increasingly popular among new residential properties for their ability to provide a secure door lock that blends into the fitting of the door itself.
PANIC EXIT DEVICES
Panic exit devices are an important safety feature for commercial and residential complexes, allowing people to evacuate areas quickly and safely.
At Border Locksmiths we offer a huge range of locksets – from key in knob to lever models – to keep your home secure.

Frequently Asked Questions
We provide a wide variety of security door locks and it can be confusing to decide which is best for your needs. We recommend reading through the specification of each of our products to get a feel for the function of each one. Also, have ideas in mind for what you need it for – is it for essential security or for added protection, what type of building is it for and does it need to fit the style of the building? If you are still stuck, give us a call on 1300 526 011 and we can give you expert advice to help you choose a lock.
The answer to this question ultimately depends on the type of door. In general, for front single doors, we recommend mortice-style locks over tubular-style lock systems because tubular locks can be weakened with force being applied to it. On the other hand, mortice locks use the strength of the door itself to protect from break-ins. We also recommend deadlock styles which lock when they are closed automatically, meaning there is no risk of accidentally leaving the door unlocked and virtually no one without a key can gain access.
Door closers automatically close a door after it is opened. They are ideal for commercial properties such as shops and residential buildings where there are many occupants because they increase security. They are not a necessity, but they do bring peace of mind where instead you may have to trust the actions of other people which may not be reliable. They may not be cost-effective to fit on every door within a building or in buildings with few occupants.
Like normal door locks, digital locks work using a latch or bolt that runs across the door and doorframe, but instead of being controlled by a key, mechanical digital locks are controlled by the input of a code. Once the code sequence has been met in the mechanism, the lock bolt is released. Because this is a mechanical function, no electricity is needed making these more cost-effective and less likely to malfunction.
A panic exit device is a type of lock which ensures anyone can open the door from the inside without prior knowledge of how to operate the door. These are required to be used for fire exits because they ensure anyone can evacuate a building quickly regardless of whether they would have the means to open the door from the outside. They typically take the shape of a bar and any horizontal force on it will release the door, but they can be locked to prevent access from outside. These doors must swing out in the direction of people exiting the building.
